At one point, I was a failed professional golfer, which was tough to accept after dedicating years to the sport. However, transitioning into working in golf became the next big chapter for me. It allowed me to stay connected to the game I love, bringing my passion and understanding of the sport into a different realm where I could contribute behind the scenes, combining my skills with a new perspective on the industry.
What skills and qualifications are most valued in the sports business industry, and how
someone acquire them?
I think skills are more important than your degree. Social skills are important to sell yourself to a potential interviewer. Accountability, if you say you’re going to do something then do it.
What are the best ways to gain relevant experience in the sports business industry?
Probably the hardest thing to convince yourself you have, however, lots of your life experiences will relate to the role you are applying for so don’t say you’re inexperienced.

Autobiographies are usually very motivational. Find a sportsperson or businessperson you aspire to be and see how they started. I can nearly guarantee they have worked hard for everything they achieved
